The Guyana Revenue Authority was established on the 27th January, 2000, and consists of GRA Secretariat, Internal Revenue, Customs & Trade Administration. The Guyana Revenue Authority replaced the former government departments of Inland Revenue and Customs & Excise Departments. Our mission is to promote compliance with Guyana’s Tax, Trade and Border Laws and Regulations through education, quality service and responsible enforcement, thereby contributing to the economic and social well being of the people of Guyana. NOTICE

Interest Rate for the 1st quarter 2008.

The public is hereby informed that all late payments of tax will attract interest. The interest rate for the 1st quarter (January 1 to March 31, 2008) is 19.71% per annum. The calculation of this interest rate is based on the prime lending rate as published by the Bank of Guyana plus 500 basic points.

Recently CARICOM heads met and decided on a few items for which the Common External Tariff will be removed in an effort to reduce the effect of high prices facing consumers in the Caribbean as a result on increase prices on the world market. In response to an article in today’s Kaieteur News captioned, “Tundras with similar licence numbers impounded,” the Licence Revenue Office, wishes to categorically state that identical registration numbers were never issued for by that Office for the motor vehicles in contention.
