Grace period for licence renewals ends Tuesday: June 07, 2007
The Licence Revenue Office (LRO) of the Guyana Revenue Authority (GRA) is reminding trade and miscellaneous licence holders, as well as motor vehicle revenue licence holders that the grace period for renewing their 2007 licences ends on Tuesday, June 12, 2007.

Following this date the LRO will embark on its compliance campaign to identify persons who have still not renewed their licences for this year and penalties may apply.

Director (ag.) of the LRO, Whentworth Tanner has noted that the grace period for purchasing and renewing such licences commenced on March 12 and thus far the number of renewals done has exceeded the number for the same period last year.

Despite this however, a significant number of persons are still in default, Tanner pointed out.

Meanwhile, the Office is reminding drivers that they are required to renew their driver’s licences every three years.

Currently, the LRO is reviewing its system to track businesses which have still not renewed their licences. He said that the penalty for trade and miscellaneous licence holders found in default may be an additional one third of the price for their licence.

Licence holders are once again urged to visit the LRO, Smythe and Princes Streets, Georgetown on or before June 12 to apply for new licences or to have their licences   renewed.

Persons residing in areas outside Georgetown can contact their Regional Offices to renew their documents.
